Your Guide to the Seoul Royal Culture Festival 2026

Explore the Seoul Royal Culture Festival 2026, held at Seoul's 5 grand palaces and Jongmyo Shrine. Learn about pre-booking tips and free entry with Hanbok.

This year, a festival unfolding in Korea's palaces will be held at the Seoul Jongmyo Shrine. How about walking the paths once trod by Joseon Dynasty kings and queens, and directly experiencing the art and culture of that era? That's the 'Royal Culture Festival'. This festival is the largest national heritage festival in Korea, held in Seoul's 5 grand palaces and Jongmyo Shrine, taking place every spring and fall.

In this post, I'll share the dates, admission fees, and how to pre-book tickets for the Royal Culture Festival. If you're planning a trip to Seoul during this period, I highly recommend visiting!

The Royal Culture Festival includes a mix of programs that require advance booking and free programs that you can enjoy on-site.

Popular programs can sell out as soon as reservations open, so it's a good idea to plan ahead. Reservations start at 12 PM on April 8th via Ticketlink, and the opening times vary for each program, so be sure to check in advance.

Also, you can get free admission to the palaces if you wear Hanbok, so renting one is a good idea. Wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
The palace grounds are large, so I recommend visiting one or two places a day at a leisurely pace. The Royal Culture Festival is a special opportunity to enjoy Korean traditional culture and art.
